H.264 (HD Video) through Flash at 500Kbit/s… (AKA… Flash video technology getting very cool…)

So why is that cool? Well, the new flash player can support H.264 encoded video natively  (that’s 720p HD video at 1280 X 720 for those of you keeping score…). Here Fabio Sonnati has been experimenting with ways to reduce the normal 1.2 to 2 Mbit/s needed to get it to look good down to 500Kbit/s. That’s tremendous! A much lower bandwidth requirement. And the quality for streaming video is looking fantastic… I’m at over 1900 resolution and it still looks great… Click the image or here to view the 500Kbit/s example, and here to read more about the experiments…
