Zemanta… Cool Blog Tool?

Well, here’s to testing a new blogging tool. It’s called Zemanta, and through Wordpress plug-in integration and a firefox extension, it appears to be an item that will help grab related imagery, articles, etc from the web in real time for me as I post. This could helps save time when the task of finding and downloading related info gets too exhausting…

Even as I type, Zemanta is currently spinning away in the posting sidebar area, apparently searching for related suggestions for my post..

Still waiting…….

Still waiting……

Well, I dunno if it’s being blocked in some way from me (I’m currently at work), or if there’s just nothing interesting it can find about my words… Or it’s just plain broken… Anyway, the idea is very cool and I will continue to check into this one… For now it does appear I can insert an interesting photo from Flickr, so let’s try that…

Will I walk the long road?

Nice! Well, we shall see how this Zemanta does in the future….

Sweet Way To Browse Flickr…

Wow. Another cool flash site, this time using the “galaxy” as a browsing mechanism. Type a keyword and you’re suddenly flying through “tagged” planets full of pictures. Swoop around with your mouse and click an image to see it bigger. Very slick! Check it HERE…

Quick Impression on Netvibes…

Here’s a 30 second impression of Netvibes so far… Really Freakin cool!!
I’ve been looking for some type of “in-browser’ solution to managing rss feeds, widgets, social sites, etc… The customizable options on here seem endless and I haven’t even begun to explore the widgets and social connectivity aspect of the site… Check it out…

Holy Hell… 360 Degree viewing takes on a new meaning!!!

Check out these demo videos from Immersive Media… These are the same people who did that ‘Street View’ thing for Google Maps, only now it’s interactive video (interactive in the sense that you can rotate around a 360 degree view of the action…
Once the clip intro has loaded and the video starts, you’ll see you can click inside the video and drag your mouse around to rotate your view…
This first one takes a few minutes to load and is a smattering of different environments… The second clip is similar to the ‘Street View’ thing as you travel down a road in Austin, Texas…

More Demos Here…

Only been on it for like 10 minutes, but this looks like a pretty cool mesh of email alert/IM & Social Network connections. Plus you can throw a widget on your blog (like I did over there….).

Adobe Open Screen Project - Very Cool!

This is really cool news from my geeky side of life. Adobe is initiating the Open Screen project, which “in a nutshell” is geared towards creating and maintaining an open standard across platforms and devices when it comes to content delivery (primarily ’swf’ (flash items) and ‘flv/f4v’ (flash video, which is becoming the DeFacto standard on the web…))
The big bullet items of this news is:

  • Removing restrictions on use of the SWF and FLV/F4V specifications
  • Publishing the device porting layer APIs for Adobe Flash Player
  • Publishing the Adobe Flash® Cast™ protocol and the AMF protocol for robust data services
  • Removing licensing fees – making next major releases of Adobe Flash Player and Adobe AIR for devices free
