GIRL TALK – ALL DAY – ILLEGAL ART.

It’s been a while in the making but Girl Talk has just released his latest album… It’s a free (although tough to get because of server demand) download from the illegal art site…

So far (just a few tracks into it), it’s very much as expected… (and for the most part that’s a good thing…). A nice mash between hip-hop lyrics flying over 80′s and classic rock snippets and bits. I’d say so far it feels a little more subdued and a little less hectic than the past few albums…

Still worth a grab….

iPhoneogenic – Great Site for iPhoneographers…

iPhone, observations, Very Cool!, websites

iPhoneogenic.

So I’ve been slacking a bit on everything as of late… World around me has kept me busy for a few weeks (in good and bad ways)… One area I’ve dropped off a lot in is my little excursion into iPhoneography. But during some lunchtime browsing, I stumbled onto this fantastic site from Edgar Cuevas called IPHONEOGENIC

There’s quite a few fantastic iPhoneography blogs, sites and “ographers” out there (lifeinLoFi, iPhoneography, eye’em, reservoirDan, etc…) and their resources in regards to highlighting new apps and connecting you to some amazing art is fantastic…

What caught my attention right away with ‘iponeogenic’ is the approach. Filled with many images, each post is a highlight of an iphoneographer out there, starting off with an interview… The questions are concise & relevant, and sprinkled nicely with the interviewee’s images…

Embedded in the interview however is what I found to be a fascinating addition; a visual/text breakdown of one of the iphoneographers favorite images, and their process and thoughts behind it, complete with images in steps along the way… This extra step really boosts the understanding behind the image, and this glimpse into the process not only accentuates the image, but I think helps give more credence to iPhoneography as an art form. It’s nice to see there are such wide and varied backgrounds to iPhoneographers out there (professional photographers and super amateurs alike…). Bottom line, check out this intriguing and inspirational site…

Skyfire for iphone = Pretty Damn Cool

iPhone, technology, Very Cool!

Skyfire is back in the app store after a small delay and the ability to play previously un-playable flash videos is pretty slick. By converting on their servers “on the fly”, a whole new chunk of flash video content is available.
Browsing seems speedy and comparable to the safari browser, but Skyfire has a few nice additional features (private browsing, a nice related items search screen, etc.). So far very worth $2.99…

Spipasucci Photoblog – Decision: Posterous

iPhone, observations, PHOTOS, Very Cool!

So after some research and playing around, I’ve decided to move the iPhoneography/photoblog over to Posterous. It seemed to have the best features for what I am looking for moving forward with snapping pictures on my iPhone…

First off: Speed… Way faster to load and work with than my wordpress photoblog (or previous experience with Pixelpost).

Second: Ease of upload/sharing… They have an app, and it’s pretty quick and easy, but they also have a rich email based uploading system that really takes the cake. Almost every iPhone photo app ahs an ‘email’ feature as well as the camera roll. Choose a photo (or photos), send the email with the title and tags in the subject line and your done!

Third: Full-res version of picture… I really liked the way Posterous pops open a large view in a shadowbox style, but on hover gives you the option to download the fullsize image (or a zipped file of the gallery of pics – more on that next)… The wordpress templates didn’t lend themselves easily to this feature at all. Tumblr unfortunately just opens the image in its own page – a little bland…

Fourth(and finally): The Gallery… Upload multiple images (or email) and they appear connected by a single post. Browse them inline or as mentioned, download a zip file of all the images in that post. Very cool!!

Hopefully with this ease of use directly from my phone, I’ll be much more capable of keeping the photoblog updated and fresh… As always, andy thoughts or feedback are highly appreciated!

92bpm: All City Presents: KALEIDOSCOPIC by mymanhenri [DWNLD].

Well worth checking out. Love the track by track explanation as well (something I’d like to try on a mix sometime…). Great flow…

Pixels – The Art of the iPhone

iPhone, PHOTOS, Very Cool!

Nice video piece put together for display in San Francisco this past week as an example/retrospective of iPhonography as an art form. Some really nice shots in here and really worth a look…

From the YouTube video description: “Apple asked Pixelsatanexhibition.com to bring the new art form into their stores for the first time. We made a movie to showcase the state of the global art. The final edit had interviews and how-to’s intercut. We thought this cut would be more enjoyable online. Many thanks to Daniel Berman @ www.originalspintv.com for his editing.”

Warpaint – Stars

music, observations, Very Cool!, VIDEO

Yea, I’m still a sucker for these female vocal bands, they get me every time. Heard this for the first time about 15 minutes ago and keep listening over and over… Never heard of Warpaint before but if the song and video are any indication, I’m all in… Something in the first half of the song feels a little early dark-wave to me but it kind of morphs and changes by the end… The video is a fantastic mix of playfulness (that seems to contrast the tone of the song) and eerie (in a subtle way) visuals…

As expected you can add them to the list of bands NOT coming to Cleveland anytime soon…

Art of BG Noise.
Wow! Some really cool stuff here for any of youze guyz and galz who went to BG (especially in the early 90′s, but there’s stuff from 1985 thru today on here…). Makes me want to dive through some old boxes in the basement and see if I still have any flyers lying around…
