Art of BG Noise.
Wow! Some really cool stuff here for any of youze guyz and galz who went to BG (especially in the early 90′s, but there’s stuff from 1985 thru today on here…). Makes me want to dive through some old boxes in the basement and see if I still have any flyers lying around…

Exquisite Clock Presentation from Joao Wilbert on Vimeo.

I just stumbled onto this site and am really blown away by some of the stuff found here. Most of the stuff is not only very functional, but truly creative and inspiring works of art. Its an entirely different and stunning way to take this piece of digital technology and craft into it some fascinating ideas…

A Must See!! – An Open Source Documentary Film about Copyright

Welcome to Open Source Cinema | Open Source Cinema – An Open Source Documentary Film about Copyright.

So I just finished watching the absolutely brilliant and fascinating documentary RIP: A Remix Manifesto… Starting off with Girl Talk and cycling through the 20th Century of American pop culture in regards to copyright, free use and mashup culture, this documentary is fantastic. There’s some great arguments about how copyright changes in the US have affected art and culture growth, and how the internet and technology have played a part in not only changing that, but facilitating a boom in creativity unmatched in our lifetime…

This Open Source Cinema site is one remarkable example (created by the filmmaker) to further the points made in the doc. Here, people are encouraged to upload their own open source video for use by others, and to remix the materials already here, including the footage from the documentary to make it an ever growing and changing thing…

There’s also some fascinating bits in the doc on how Brazil as a country has revolutionized “remix” ideals not only in art and culture but in medicine and science… There’s a ton of stuff about the effects of the RIAA in the past decade or so and the stifling and misguided nature of their efforts of control…

Cooler still, you can watch the entire thing (as well as remix it yourself) on the open source cinema site… Check it out!

You Tube Play – Creative Video via Guggenheim

Very Cool!, VIDEO, websites

Very interesting concept and a pretty exciting idea… As I am a sucker for digital media in any way, this could be a pretty fascinating look at some hugely creative video stuff… I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this and got to get the gears moving in my head to maybe come up with something to submit myself. I’ve needed an excuse to really dive back into digital video as a creative expression in my free time and this could easily be the nudge…

Definitely worth checking out the site and keeping an eye on it… Looks like the videos will be reviewed by judges and viewable by the public later in the year…

Top 10 Photo Fixing and Image Editing Tricks.

Nice set of links to web resources (software and ‘tips & tricks’ related stuff…). I haven’t clicked on all the links yet, but this is definitely a nice resource jumping off point for some good info to keep in the back of your head (in regards to amateur digital photography at least…)

Life in LoFi: iPhoneography » Life In LoFi: iPhoneography | iPhone Photography.

My latest ‘mini-obsession’ has been photo apps for the iPhone. Now I see there’s actually a word for this stuff… iPhoneography! And, there’s a fantastic site called Life in LoFi…

There’s a ton of great info here, lots of photo examples, app reviews, etc… Plus it seems he’s giving a shout when photo apps get reduced or free time in the App Store… I’ll be diving deeper into this site for sure…

BBC – The Wrong Door – Home.
So I’m flipping channels and catch this BBC show on IFC. It’s pretty out there (as in a bit of ‘adult’ humour).. Then I check the website. Wow! Some seriously cool flash interaction going on. Couldn’t get the clips to load (dunno if its just cuz its a BBC site and I’m in the US..) Needless to say I was pretty impressed by all the goings on in this site…
