Massive List of Online Photo Stuff…

90+ Online Photo Tools c/o mashable.com

I just quickly browsed this page today but can’t wait to take a more thorough romp through it. Looks like an awesome list of all types of photography ‘apps’. Some I’ve heard of and used and others I’m curious to learn more about. Perfect timing for a list like this as I’ve been looking for a solution to how I used to get photos up on line (pixelpost and my server seemed to be a slowly crawling beast…). With the newly revamped site and blog I’m looking for a slicker way to present and manage photos… I’ll update any finds off the list if/when I get to play with them…

Robot Chicken Star Wars…

Robot Chicken Star Wars
Of course I posted earlier about the upcoming Family Guy Star Wars episode that I simply cannot wait for. But the guys of Robot Chicken put out their own tribute show chock full of hilarious goodness and funny. The Adult Swim site has the episode (in fantastic Flash Video!) along with commentary popup options. Very Cool!

Buffy Season 8 Comics…

TV

Buffy comicThe Buffy Season 8 Comics… Cool stuff. We were ‘HUGE’ fans of the show (“Tuesday evenings have never felt the same since…). Anyone who loved that show should (and probably already has) check out these comics.

It was tough to get into at first, but the wit, humor and drama of the series are here (especially since it’s a lot of the same folks in on this comic endeavor…).

It’s cool how this series is treated as ‘Season 8′ of the TV series, picking up where the show left off. There’s a ton of unanswered questions slowly being revealed and it makes for a real nice sense of drama and anticipation.

The artwork is great and its nice seeing the characters reflecting the look of the actors from the series. Often in this type scenario you might have some other interpretation portrayed in comic form, but they work well here.

I haven’t read the fourth one yet, but issues 1 – 3 ran along nicely. Just dropped in my preorder for issues 5 & 6… Coming in August! Check out things from another world (tfaw.com) for these comix and all things Buffy and comic related!

The 305… Good Stuff

The 305 – Spartans Meet the Office on You Tube

Watched this little parody video on You Tube this morning. Well done! I never saw the flick “The 300″, but I got the general idea of it. This clip does a real nice job of taking “The Office” style mocumentary flow and filming and incorporating that around the theme from the film. The “Dwight” & “Micheal” characters are the best. “Watch that Goat Field…cuz if you don’t..I’ll stab you in the heart…”
“I have a sharpened carrot!”…
Enjoy…

SHORPY! Old Photos For your Viewing Pleasure…

One of the sites I love to visit every few days is Shorpy, The 100-year-old photo blog. I’ve always loved browsing random photos and this site in particular because it’s all old photos. From some truly astounding photos like this, to a unique look at life back in the day, the depth and browsability of the site is astounding. A lot of the photos can be viewed at high resolutions as well, so you’re not “squinting” to see every little detail. Can you even fathom life like this?

Sopranos Finale (A Week Late)

TV

SopranosSo after a week of hype, here’s my take on the whole Sopranos ending. I thought it was solid and fit perfectly with the series as a whole. What better way to convey the mood and mindset of Tony and his family than that. Always drama, always paranoia, always looking over your shoulder. And to see it in that setting…a family get together as mundane and innocent as can be. Discussions of Onion Rings and birth control prescriptions….

And why was everyone so angry? Was it that compelling to see Tony get killed? Isn’t this better than one of those cheesy “been there, done that” TV endings (i.e. – it was all a dream….). Why the need for some spoon-fed resolution? A buddy put it well when they pointed out that this isn’t a movie… There’s no drive for a beginning, middle, end type setup. This was just a few year window into the life of a particular mobster whose family and follies we all grew to love.

Amazing Assistance…

family, friends

Well, the move is complete. We are officially in our new home and I have to say we couldn’t have done it without the amazing help we got from family and friends. It was incredible and we are forever grateful to all those that lent a hand (or a truck, car, etc…). We were able to get an entire house worth of stuff moved in like 6 hours, and be partially unpacked in the new place in the process! Now the slow process of the rest of the unpacking begins and we’ll take our time with that…

Jericho – Viewers Actually Saved A Show!

TV

A Letter From CBS shows that the whole “sending nuts” to CBS to save the show Jericho” has worked! That’s impressive. usually (in fact almost always…i.e.-Arrested Development for instance), thousands of fans clammer for the return of a favorite canceled show only to get no response and no results. Maybe this will signal things to come in terms of how Nielsen ratings are read and interpreted by advertisers and TV executives. I know shows like Jericho (and yes that was one we watched) are part of the growing number of shows that hit target demographics who view a lot of TV via DVR/TiVo or even online or through ITunes/Ipod methods.. Until those numbers are included or represented somehow, the Nielsen ratings of television will never truly reflect a shows fan base in any true context…

Congrats to those who sent Nuts (i did not…).
