Californication… David Duchovney did something else?

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Californication
Well, the season is a few episodes into Californication, but it is tremendous. Coupled with Weeds, it makes for a fantastic Monday night of Television. Californication has an as far from Mulder Duchovney playing a struggling writer, whose troubles are compounded by the love of his life planning her upcoming marriage to his current boss at a job he has no desire to have, while dealing with his young daughters transition into her teens, his string of one night stands with an impressively odd array of women, and through all this constant chaos, he still can’t find anything to write about. The theft of the dog last week was classic as well as the whole scene at his former loves future husbands house (the whole puke on a painting debacle…).
Duchovney pulls off this role incredibly well. I hadn’t really seen him in too much before besides X-Files and Kalifornia (I like wind…Brian). Make sure to check this out!!!

Anthony Bourdain Hits Cleveland…

cassoulet!
Snuck in a viewing of this last night. I’ve never watched the show but it was pretty cool. This guy (Bourdain) apparently travels a lot and eats and stuff. Well, his buddy tries to convince him that Cleveland is a great place (not an easy task… I speak from experience…). Turns out after a week he’s gotta admit that Cleveland is a great place (or at least much better than he thought… And he does admit secretly that he liked Cleveland all along…).

Dunno when this airs again but check out the site and pics & clips and such (including some nice stuff with Harvey Pekar…)

Al & McBeam… First Encounter

Al & McBeam Meet

It was a chance encounter that day. Al was on his way to return his scorecard at the “Black & Gold Ye Olde Putt Putt”, when a large yellow object caught his eye. Al thought…”Hmmmm… Interesting”. Steely McBeam muscled by, muttering under his breath…”I’m Steely… I’m Steely… I’m Steely McBeam!”… Al realized he had just had a run in with the One and Only “Steely McBeam”! The mascot to save a franchise and sure to inspire a triumphant season for all the McBeamers everywhere!

Retroland! Totally Massive!

retroland
Wow… Another cool site stumbled onto but have yet to browse fully. Retroland appears to be about all things 70’s, 80’s and 90’s… Toys, TV, games, food… Looks like it has it all. reminds me of the Online version of the ‘Ben Is Dead’ magazines from many years back when they covered as much retro stuff as you can fit into… well into 3 magazines dedicated to retro-stuff…

Kinda like browsing those VH1 shows… Set up ‘most excellently’ into great categories for browsing and a nice looking forum for discussing all the “retro” memories you could poke a ’spoon’ at…

Now maybe my daughter will believe me when I tell her I really did play something called… “Gnip-Gnop”.!

NFL.com & Flash Video - Great Combo…

Friday, August 17th, 2007

NFL-FlashVid

NFL.com has revamped their site and it is off to a fantastic start. One of the coolest things by far I think (being a Flash developer and all…) is the new Video page… Quick and easy loading Flash videos broken out into easy to use categories. Nice clean interface. Superb! Game highlights, training camp stuff, NFL Network clips… It’s all there for your streaming football enjoyment…

Google Desktop Sidebar…

Friday, August 17th, 2007

I’ll admit, I was very hesitant at first to run with Google Desktop. I mean, this is Google on my computer, scanning everything and indexing it and who knows what… But the apps they’ve been pumping out are pretty cool and after seeing an article on the sidebar and all the related desktop apps in the Google Desktop Pak, I thought I’d give it a try.

Verdict? Pretty freakin sweet so far. It doesn’t take up too much room but I love having the stuff along the side for quick access, reference and viewing. No more toggling back and forth in Itunes to see what’s playing, and I can see some of my favorite RSS Feeds without having to hit a bunch of web pages over and over…

The whole suite includes Google Earth, a great Screensaver, Google Chat, some security and anti-virus stuff (which I opted not to install as I’m happy with what I already have) and much more… Even Star Office (a Open-Source Microsoft Office Suite Alternative! Check it out as it’s very cool and quite a production enhancer…
