This is why Big Brother is a great show. For anyone ‘playing along at home’, last night had one of those episodes that make the show so fascinating. Dustin offers himself up on the block, absolutely convinced he’s safe because he’s so arrogant, and “wham!”…voted out 4 - 2. Ha! Evel Dick has it under control…

Spectacular… Have these guys playing in the IPOD today (yes, believe it or not I’m not running the whole pod on shuffle). Have pieces parts of a few of their releases. Awesome stuff. Description? Well, kinda sorta your standard Indie fare without sounding remotely like standard Indie fare… Strong grooves, tight instrumentation without being flashy, laid back vocals (with some nice subtle harmonies…), and great song titles…(Thanks for the Killer Game of Crisco Twister, Monkey!!! Knife!!! Fight!!!, & Hey! Is That a Ninja Up There? - to name a few)… Coming soon to a small venue near you…
Hmmmm. Well according to a new study, it appears those awful videos we used to show our daughter may not have been so great after all. Turns out, babies who watched many many hours actually knew less words than kids who hadn’t watched it.
Luckily, my daughter likes to use big words and seems to have turned out just fine (minus the trauma suffered from that damned ‘dragon puppet’ (see below), with it’s big mouth popping open out of nowhere causing her to shake and cry…)
It’s good to know that this sort of research (10 years too late) is out there. Those videos were really creepy. Sure, it’s nice to hear kids count to 10 in 24 different languages while a disembodied hand slides a toy fire truck across the screen, and one of those old toy robots from the 20’s waddles across the screen, but at the end of the day, we see how much good it did…

Wow…70,000+ entries to name their mascot, and they get “Steely McBeam“? He looks like Bill Cowher if he appeared on the Simpsons in an episode about Steroids… Saw Big Ben got hurt so maybe Steely will be helping out when the Browns take on the ‘McBeamers’ on opening day in a few weeks…
The last of the pics brings us some shots of the room at the condo, more kids on the beach fun (and somecartwheels, and the last evening where we spent an hour with the kids burning off boxes and boxes of sparklers, as I tried to take goofy long-exposure photos.
