Made it to a news blurb in Crain’s Cleveland Business!

Ugh. The Chili Peppers used to be one of my favorite bands growing up, in part because they seemed to sidestep all the music biz B.S. and do their own thing. Then of course, as everyone does, they got a little older, a little calmer, and now it seems, a little sillier (in a bad way).

According to reports, they are suing Showtime for the show “Californication” because it dilutes their property, causes unfair competition and because everyone associates that word with their 1999 album. Seriously? Isn’t that a tad egomaniacal? That album is almost 10 years old. And this quote threw me as well…

“Californication is the signature CD, video and song of the band’s career, and for some TV show to come along and steal our identity is not right,” said the band’s lead singer, Anthony Kiedis, in a statement.

The signature CD?  I’d put Mother’s Milk, Uplift Mofo, or Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic way before Californication… Stealing their identity? I watched every episode of that show, and sure, the name made me think of the Chili Peppers for like 3 seconds, and then I was caught up in the story, which from what I saw not once carried any storylines about aging rock singers named Anthony Kiedis. It’s about a struggling book author who deals with relationships between his ex-girlfriend, his daughter, his agent and himself… The thoughts of the Chili Peppers and their Identity were gone from my head before the opening credits were done…

Just a bummer that they have to get caught up in something so trivial and stupid like that…

Wow! I couldn’t even watch as Dawson tried for the second week in a row to tie the game with a 50+ yard field go in the waning seconds… And again, I couldn’t believe when it seemed it had “just missed”.  But wait! In one of footballs wackiest moments (and why are the Browns always involved it seems), the kick bounced through and then back out off the extension behind the goal post. Field goal good! get the Ratbirds back on the field. Win the toss. Revel in the fact that theystupidly kick it to Cribbs again and we get some awesome field position. A few sweet passes later, Dawson kicks the game winner!! Highlights Here!!!

Did I forget that the Stoolers blew it to against the Jets of all teams? What a day!

What more can you ask for than flying shoppers, angry clerks, hyper-extended bass-players, and karate. Genius!

Okay, so this time around the Browns are a much better team. Good enough to win? I can only hope. We definitely have the offense to get us points, but we need to find a way to stop their Offense and continue to protect DA in the pocket. If the O-Line falters, or the Steelers go on a scoring frenzy, it’ll be trouble. But don’t discount the importance of a win here either. Not only would we be tied for first place, but tied in head to head and tied in Division wins… I don’t even know what the next tiebreaker stat is…

The Browns were able to send the game into overtime yesterday and pull out a victory after the defense came to life in the second half! 4 TD’s for Jamal! Another 300+ yard passing game for DA! The Browns got their first 3 game winning streak in forever, and are looking in good shape going into the last 8 games. Yea! Click here for some highlights…

Bella was a ‘Lil’ Devil this year for the Halloween festivities…

At least according to this article… Looks like a cool premise for a show and if anyone can pull off a cool show, it’s Joss. The big surprise is that it’s with Fox, since they gave ‘Firefly‘ the shaft (and that turned out to be a fantastic show and the film Serenity was great as well…).  It’s called Dollhouse and looks like a futuristicish Alias type thing (a group of men and women who are imprinted with different personalities for different assignments and then their memories are erased as they live in between assignments in a sort of ‘Dollhouse’). Dushku’s character looks to be the one who’s starting to “figure out” this whole ‘memory wipe’ thing…
