The House At Westbrook River

Dug up a short silent flick from the early 1900’s. It’s the touching tale of a group of young kids in a house at Westbrook River. There’s dancing, fighting, action and adventure.

Heard a snippet of this on the radio today. It’s actually pretty funny. “And I make pretty good spaghetti sauce, mo%$@r f&%ker…” From comedian Jon Lajoie, whom I know absolutely nothing about…
Another amazing video mix from that guy/kid who did the hyperactive beatbox thing… This one is even more impressive to me… Ya gotta hang till about half way through when he brings in the piano to accompany the drums… Schweet…
Got to catch this last night. Completely forgot how good this series was. Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant did an amazing thing with the original ‘The Office’ and followed it up with the absolutely stellar ‘Extras’.
The finale was a lot darker than I expected, but that worked to make it even better. The quick and dirty on the show has been essentially Andy Millman (Gervais) starts out as an extra trying to get his big break to become a rich and famous Hollywood star. Throughout the series, he bumbles and fumbles his way to the status of “Top C-level” actor, complete with a hit show in which he has to wear a silly wig and utter Britan’s #4 most popular catch phrase…
This is where we join things for the Xmas special. His inner battle with his status, his sense of underachievement and his sense of having ’sold-out’, is coupled gracefully with the impending decline of those around him from his past. There’s some real sad moments that come to a head when his “on-Air” breakdown inside a Celebrity reality show of B & C grade stars actually boosts his ’star status’… The series wraps on a happy note, but in a good way (not in a cheesy “American” sort of happy ending-way…)
Here’s a little snippet I threw together after the thrill of yesterday’s insane snow game at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Sure it was freezing cold, windy as windy can be, and pretty much insanity out there, it was also incredibly exciting, a wild game and an experience like no other….
Plus, cap off the day with the Stoolers losing to the Jags, and Baltimore humiliated at the hands of the Dolphins!! What else can ya ask for on a Sunday in mid-December….
Below is some of the Love the Browns are getting in the press….
I never saw this video back in the day, but alas, here it is. Caterwaul was always in rotation back in the late 80’s when we all spent way too much time hanging at Steve’s house, or even during the Toledo/BG days… Betsy Martin has an awesome voice and I think even though the video is clearly looking like an 80’s video, the music holds up well…
Found this goofy bit on You Tube. Back when Reznor was just a piece of the Cleveland band ‘Exotic Birds’. This clip is so mid-80’s it’s scary… Thank god that whole “Computer” thing never caught on or who knows where we’d be now!
Wow… The Submarine Channel. This site is great (in regards to content). A ton of online music videos from the likes of Michel Gondry, Spike Jones and others. Most everything here is a tad outside the norm and is a great representation of what Music Videos can and should be. Plus unique Ads and Shorts to round out the content.
My only gripe? I wish they didn’t use the QuickTime/popup window method to show the videos, and I wish you could embed or link to these. It’s weird too, because they have a slick Flash interface to catalog and browse the videos, and then don’t take advantage of Flash video at the tail end… Well, maybe I’ll write my congressman about that one…
