Repo The Genetic Opera - Theatrical Trailer 2
Repo The Genetic Opera - I’d heard a bit about this a few months back, but now that there’s a trailer… Wow… Looks very cool and creepy. I am not a fan of musicals by any streatch, but how can you go wrong when you’ve got a cast like this… Ogre from Skinny Puppy, Anthony Stewart Head (Giles from Buffy), Paul Sorvino, Sarah Brightman, that girl from the Spy kids movies, etc….. Looks like it’s been bumped back to November and will be limited release (which means no Cleveland I’m sure…). I’ll have to keep an eye out for the DVD…

This looks nice and dark (and awesome) even though it’s a musical (rock opera)…

6 Month Old Mike Patton Article… But good nonetheless…

I was checking out some clips from Mike Patton’s Soundtrack to the short Film “A Perfect Place” (which sounds fantastic by the way… and here’s a review of that album…), and “The Google” led me to this great interview he did with MovieWeb.com. It starts off dealing with the voiceover work Patton did in “I Am Legend” (which I haven’t seen and had no clue he did that…), and then tails into his label, doing soundtracks, past and present plans, and other latest bits of news… Read the full schpeel here…

Scary Pic, Upcoming Posts & it was 20 years ago today…

Sorry for the lack of posts lately… Two weeks of crazy running around and travelling. But I did find this scary pic of myself from 1996. Dunno what look I was going for there (maybe a “How much hair-gel is too much hair gel contest?”)…
Anyway, hopefully later this week, I’ll have pics up from our fantastic Myrtle vacation and our trip up to Ann Arbor from John’s wedding… Both were a blast.
The rest of July is getting crazy as well. Foo Fighters and a 20th High School Reunion are up next (2 weeks!)… The whole 20th reunion thing has me a little freaked out, but I can’t wait to see some people I’ve lost touch with for way too long… I’ve been feeling a little ‘retrospective’ these days because of it and am still a bit in shock about 20 years having passed…
On that note… Here’s 20 years ago TODAY!

From The Film Geek Side Of Life… This Is Huge!!!

After almost 80 years, one of the most famous films of German and in fact worldwide cinema may finally be restored! According to reports, the original version of Metropolis was 210 minutes or so long, but was severely cut when it went into worldwide release (by almost 25%).. Apparently a long lost copy from the early 1920’s has been in Buenos Aries all this time in the possesion of film collectors who where unaware of what they had in hand… Shamefully (having studied film in college, and even having taken a ’silent cinema’ class), this is a film I’ve never seen! The article goes on to state how much of the cryptic plot and odd flow of the film has been restored and character development previously confusing now makes sense and the vision and tempo of the original film are brilliant… Read the article for more (it’s just a really cool story…)

Browns Props coming out of… Dallas?

Nice write up on some various aspects of the NFL in July as the upcoming season approaches. The article gives props in a few spots to the Browns, but this one is particularly nice…
If the Super Bowl were played tomorrow
The Browns are one of only six NFL teams that have never been to a Super Bowl. So let’s send Cleveland to the 2008 NFL championship game against the defending champion New York Giants. Go ahead, skewer me. But my loyal readers/e-mailers also skewered me last November when I forecast a Giants-Patriots Super Bowl in this same Internet space. That’s what makes the NFL so intriguing – nothing is ever as obvious as it seems. As we sit here the opening week of July, there are probably 20 teams that believe they can be in Tampa next February playing for an NFL title. The Browns and Giants are certainly two of them.
