Spipasucci iPhoneography – For all that stuff coming from my phone….

So it’s been a little over a month now with Posterous as my main iphoneography site, and I must say I like how it’s working so far… I really like how easy it is to publish from the iPhone app and to autopost to Twitter & Facebook…

I am a little bummed that a ton of iPhoneography folks are on Tumblr. Not a knock on Tumblr, but I wish I could connect more easily with them. Posterous isn’t quite as much about connectivity as Tumblr seems to be. I do have a Tumblr site (Spip*mis*cel*la*ny), but I decided that was my random scrapps of meaninglessness site…

I’m hoping to ramp up my iPhone pics more in the coming months (I’ve been slacking on snapping lately)… Lots of great apps to play with tho, so expect iphoney-goodness to keep coming… Also, comments are always appreciated and if there’s any thoughts on it, I’ve considered reviewing apps as well. I’ve got a ton…

Spipasucci Photoblog – Decision: Posterous

iPhone, observations, PHOTOS, Very Cool!

So after some research and playing around, I’ve decided to move the iPhoneography/photoblog over to Posterous. It seemed to have the best features for what I am looking for moving forward with snapping pictures on my iPhone…

First off: Speed… Way faster to load and work with than my wordpress photoblog (or previous experience with Pixelpost).

Second: Ease of upload/sharing… They have an app, and it’s pretty quick and easy, but they also have a rich email based uploading system that really takes the cake. Almost every iPhone photo app ahs an ‘email’ feature as well as the camera roll. Choose a photo (or photos), send the email with the title and tags in the subject line and your done!

Third: Full-res version of picture… I really liked the way Posterous pops open a large view in a shadowbox style, but on hover gives you the option to download the fullsize image (or a zipped file of the gallery of pics – more on that next)… The wordpress templates didn’t lend themselves easily to this feature at all. Tumblr unfortunately just opens the image in its own page – a little bland…

Fourth(and finally): The Gallery… Upload multiple images (or email) and they appear connected by a single post. Browse them inline or as mentioned, download a zip file of all the images in that post. Very cool!!

Hopefully with this ease of use directly from my phone, I’ll be much more capable of keeping the photoblog updated and fresh… As always, andy thoughts or feedback are highly appreciated!

Best Online Way to Disply Photos?

iPhone, PHOTOS

So I’m looking for some help and suggestions here. For the past year I’ve been trying to find an easy way to publish my growing collection of iPhone photos.

Currently I’ve been slugging them up on a secondary wordpress blog, but not only is the process more timely than simply uploading, the site seems sluggish and I haven’t yet found a template (even with tweaking) that lends itself real well to display.

There have been a few new sites recently that focus specifically on iPhoneography as a ‘thing’ (and I like this…); EYE’EM iPhoneART to name a few… EYE’EM has nice presentation, but its sluggish (and never seems to remember my login…), iPhoneART plays quicker and feels more like Flickr, but neither of these have a way to upload from the iPhone (one of the key things I’m looking for…). iPhoneART does say they have an app on the way, and when that arrives I think I would lean more toward that site…

The place I’m really leaning toward now is Tumblr. On a whim, I set up a tumblr for nonsense and random stuff, but inadvertently I find it to be the absolutely easiest way to get a photo online (outside of the occasional facebook & twitter upload). I like that clicking the image gives a full resolution version, and the Tumblr iPhone app is quick and responsive. I’ve seen some people using Posterous, and of course Flickr itself, but my quick observation is that Tumblr might just do the job for me…

So the bottom line is this; Before I go full boat popping my stuff over to the like of Tumblr, or before I spend too much time testing out 9 other things, I’d love to get some feedback/advice/suggestions from anyone out there. For this home for iPhone photos, I’m really seeing great user viewing experience and ease of interaction from the phone (uploading & viewing) as the 2 biggest features I’m looking for. Ease to link to individual photos would be nice (as I’d like to replace my one-off iphoneography tweet posts with posts to the photo in my gallery…

Comment or shoot me a twitter dm with any thoughts…please!!

Pixels – The Art of the iPhone

iPhone, PHOTOS, Very Cool!

Nice video piece put together for display in San Francisco this past week as an example/retrospective of iPhonography as an art form. Some really nice shots in here and really worth a look…

From the YouTube video description: “Apple asked Pixelsatanexhibition.com to bring the new art form into their stores for the first time. We made a movie to showcase the state of the global art. The final edit had interviews and how-to’s intercut. We thought this cut would be more enjoyable online. Many thanks to Daniel Berman @ www.originalspintv.com for his editing.”

New iphone app – infinicam

iPhone, PHOTOS

The makers of Camerabag have come out with a new photo app called infinicam. Nice interface and tons of variety. First impressions: brings the best of hipstamatic, pictureshow and plastic bullet into one app.
Nothing incredibly new here, but there’s enough variety from the aforementioned apps that it makes a nice compliment to a loaded arsenal of iphoneography apps. It’s twist is a seven character code that determines the effect and borders. Easy to save favorites and to quickly browse a random application of film styles and borders. The effects vary just enough from other apps to make it a worthwhile purchase.

iPhone, PHOTOS, Very Cool!, websites

Life in LoFi: iPhoneography » Life In LoFi: iPhoneography | iPhone Photography.

My latest ‘mini-obsession’ has been photo apps for the iPhone. Now I see there’s actually a word for this stuff… iPhoneography! And, there’s a fantastic site called Life in LoFi…

There’s a ton of great info here, lots of photo examples, app reviews, etc… Plus it seems he’s giving a shout when photo apps get reduced or free time in the App Store… I’ll be diving deeper into this site for sure…
