Lymbyc Systym | Shutter Release.
Checked out this CD over the past day (It’sa streaming from their site). Some pretty cool stuff.. Falling in that ‘Post-rock’ experimental instrumental category, Lymbyc Systym is a duo from Arizona that’s been around since 2001 (thanks to their Last.fm bio)..
Off the top of my head I’m feeling a very ‘The Album Leaf’ vibe with just a hint more electronic elements thrown in. Quick faves – “Ghost Clock” is more upbeat tempo-wise than most of the album and has an excellent inner hook… I really dug ‘Teddy’ & ‘Late Night Classic’ as well… More subdued and more full of some other soundscapes (environmental elements can be heard sprinkled through these…)
Overall as my first exposure to these guys, a strong solid album (I believe it’s their second release…). Makes for good background listening but also works when giving it your full attention… Worth checking out for sure…
